How It Works
Easy to implement solution complete with full-time optometrist availability.
Similar to a regular consultation, patients who receive a synchronous remote exam are required to be physically present at the eye care provider's practice. The difference with a remote exam is that the optometrist is not physically located at the practice.

Intake and History
The patient completes an intake form on a tablet to obtain a thorough history.

Patients have the option to complete the electronic intake prior to their arrival, or to complete it on the tablet during their appointment. After the on-site assistant has reviewed the eligibility with the patient, all of the information is automatically uploaded to the cloud based PHIPA compliant platform.
Visual Pre-Testing
Guide the patient through elements of a comprehensive eye exam.

Patients are led by a trained on-site assistant through all required pre-tests. The following tests are completed for each and every patient:
-
Visual Acuity
-
Auto-Lensometry
-
Auto-Refraction
-
Colour Vision
-
Stereo Vision
-
Automated Visual Field Screening
-
Tonometry
-
Pupil Function
-
Extraocular Motility
-
Retinal Photography
-
Digital Biomicroscopy (slit lamp)
The test results are automatically uploaded into the Remote Optometry system for the doctors to review in real time. The doctors work to identify any risks or developments of both systemic and ocular diseases.

Subjective Refraction
A subjective refraction is performed in real time.

The optometrist remotely controls the digital phoropter, and uses high quality video conferencing to perform a seamless subjective refraction with the patient.
Live Patient Consultation
The remote optometrist and patient discuss vision and ocular health findings.

Patient education is the most crucial element to proper eye care. Patients are encouraged to ask the remote doctor any questions they may have regarding their ocular health, and how it relates to their systemic health and new refractive prescriptions. Together, the doctor and patient work to design a personalized treatment plan for the patient.

Final Prescription
The patient’s prescription is printed and ready for immediate use.

The remote optometrist signs a new prescription for the patient and a copy is immediately sent to the office to be printed. The site staff hands the prescription to the patient and guides them through the optical to assist with any in-store glasses purchases.
Increased Optical Revenue
A fully automated system captures an entirely new customer basis.
Opticals that offer remote comprehensive eye exams during all operating hours can significantly increase optical sales. Simply capturing just a few extra patients per day can have a remarkable impact on monthly revenue.
